Welcome Home Bundles
When low-income households move into a new apartment, they often show up with minimal possessions and may not have the means to purchase household essentials. In order to welcome our new tenants home, we create ‘Welcome Home’ bundles for as many households as we can. We need assistance in filling these bundles with as much local flavour as possible. Our goal is to be able to offer all households a welcome home bundle, but we need your help. This year, with the opening of Bishop’s Manor, we established our very first community garden for our tenants. Through the community garden, Forward Housing is hoping to empower tenants to develop the skills needed to grow their own produce. Many low-income individuals do not have access to a garden of their own and joining a traditional community garden can be too pricey. Alongside education, the community garden will increase food security, provide potential sources of income, open future employment opportunities and improve tenant mental health.
