The Bridgeland Elves are a community group of volunteers who have supported Forward Housing for several years. Each holiday season they hold a hamper drive for Forward Housing tenants in conjunction with the Bridgeland Market. Together with our generous donors, the Elves are aiming to collect $10,000 in 2022 to support the Holiday Hampers project. You can support the cause here!
Welcome Home Bundles
When low-income households move into a new apartment, they often show up with minimal possessions and may not have the means to purchase household essentials. To help, we create ‘Welcome Home’ bundles for as many new tenants as we can. You can help us offer all households a welcome bundle by making a financial contribution or a gift donation by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
At Bishop’s Manor we have established a community garden for tenants. The garden empowers tenants to develop the skills needed to grow their own produce. Many low-income individuals do not have access to a garden of their own and joining a traditional community garden can be too pricey. Alongside education, the community garden increases food security, provides potential sources of income, opens future employment opportunities and improves tenant mental health.
Knitting for a cause
The seniors from Carroll Place have joined forces with fellow knitters in the Brentwood community. Together they knit hats, mitts, scarves and other things for those in need. If you’re interested in joining or donating materials, please contact email@example.com.
Move ‘N Mingle
Forward Housing Association is proud to host Move N Mingle in three of our buildings. Move N Mingle is an Alberta Health Services (AHS) program which offers fall prevention and independent living exercise classes at a variety of sites throughout the city.
This is a group activity consisting of 45 minutes of exercise twice weekly, facilitated by a certified Older Adult fitness instructor with additional balance and falls prevention education. Registration is done through the link below.
